The 2nd International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials

Bali, Indonesia

November 8, 2017 – November 9, 2017

Functional materials or commonly defined as materials with a specific property and function hold an important position in the science and technology development, including alternative energy supply, environment preservation, electronic devices, and health quality improvement. As part of the global scientific community, Indonesian scientists are also concerned with research in this area, in both basic science and engineering aspects. In particular, Universitas Indonesia has been taking part in this field through researches conducted in the Master and Doctorate Programs of Materials Science at the Departments of Physics and similar programs at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. In addition, studies related to the development and applications of functional materials from the chemical and biological aspects are also available at the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Biology.

Being as a developing country, however, Indonesia still needs a significant improvement in the quality and intensity of research in functional materials in order for Indonesian researchers to be able to contribute more significantly to the world’s development of functional materials as well as to benefit the development of Indonesia. All these motivate us to hold an international symposium to serve as an effective forum to enhance international engagement between Indonesian researchers and their colleagues from other countries, or between the researchers and industrial community, as the end users, and to update the researchers on the current progress in functional materials.

This International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials (ISCPFM) is aimed to provide a network for all the participating functional material researchers to communicate with each other, broaden their knowledge on various subjects, and exchange ideas among them for the future researches. All these are expected to eventually enhance quality of their researches and their contribution to the global scientific community, as well as to the industrial community for the applications of these researches for alternative energy supply, environment preservation, electronic devices, and health quality improvement.
