The 4th International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials
The Sakala Resort, Tanjung Benoa, Bali
Jl. Pratama No.95, Benoa, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80363
Bali, ID
November 6, 2019 – November 7, 2019
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia is warmly invite you to attend and present your papers in The International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials (ISCPFM), which will be held in November 2019 from 6th to 7th with the theme of Functional Materials for Technologies Development. Every region in the world with their own unique geographical features possesses different biological, minerals, and natural resources. This material diversity is potential to be developed as functional materials, which can be utilized to encounter some problems in society, locally or globally. Functional materials play an important role in our everyday life, as it covers a wide range of applied sciences. From materials utilized in computer science to the ones employed to cure diseases. An exceptional growth of functional materials is promising to lead to the improvement of technologies in various fields. Scientists dedicate their research to harness the functional material’s potential to solve health problems as well as to overcome the growing energy requirement issue.
The ISCPFM established in 2016, facilitates a forum for scientist fellows as well as graduate students, master degree and doctoral degree students to share their research activities through oral and poster presentations, to be involved in intense discussions regarding the updated functional materials. The exchanging ideas between scientists from different countries and regions will accelerate technology development and application related to functional materials. The objective of this symposium is to organize an excellent networking among the researchers as well as collaborators from around the world on a single platform. It provides the opportunities for the researchers to share ideas and application experiences directly, to develop research relations and expand the research collaboration internationally. Featuring two days of interactive discussions, presentations, question and answer as well as networking sessions, this symposium gathers important topics from multiple guest speakers to share their views and research on the most updated functional materials studies.
3rd International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials
The Margo Hotel
Jalan Margonda 358, Depok 16424, Indonesia
Depok, ID
August 8, 2018 – August 9, 2018
The 3rd ISCPFM 2018 intends for bringing together the scientific and technicalcommunities to share their knowledge base on recent trends in processing, characterization and application of functional materials. Theoretical and computationalmodeling research to explain the characteristics and experimental results of functionalmaterials are also very welcome. Plenary and classroom sessions will stimulateinteraction between scientists. Keynote and invited speakers who are experts in theirrespective fields would share their experience and knowledge with young researchersand research scholars, which in turn would promote research in these areas.Information exchange and research collaboration will be promoted through stimulatingresults and engaging discussion in plenary and oral presentations, in mixer events ofsymposium participants, and other flexible interactions. Young scientists are especiallyencouraged to come.
The 2nd International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials
Bali, Indonesia
Bali, ID
November 8, 2017 – November 9, 2017
Functional materials or commonly defined as materials with a specific property and function hold an important position in the science and technology development, including alternative energy supply, environment preservation, electronic devices, and health quality improvement. As part of the global scientific community, Indonesian scientists are also concerned with research in this area, in both basic science and engineering aspects. In particular, Universitas Indonesia has been taking part in this field through researches conducted in the Master and Doctorate Programs of Materials Science at the Departments of Physics and similar programs at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. In addition, studies related to the development and applications of functional materials from the chemical and biological aspects are also available at the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Biology.
Being as a developing country, however, Indonesia still needs a significant improvement in the quality and intensity of research in functional materials in order for Indonesian researchers to be able to contribute more significantly to the world’s development of functional materials as well as to benefit the development of Indonesia. All these motivate us to hold an international symposium to serve as an effective forum to enhance international engagement between Indonesian researchers and their colleagues from other countries, or between the researchers and industrial community, as the end users, and to update the researchers on the current progress in functional materials.
This International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials (ISCPFM) is aimed to provide a network for all the participating functional material researchers to communicate with each other, broaden their knowledge on various subjects, and exchange ideas among them for the future researches. All these are expected to eventually enhance quality of their researches and their contribution to the global scientific community, as well as to the industrial community for the applications of these researches for alternative energy supply, environment preservation, electronic devices, and health quality improvement.
International Symposium on Current Progress in Functional Materials

July 26, 2016 – July 27, 2016
Functional materials or commonly defined as materials with a specific property and function hold an important position in the science and technology development, including alternative energy supply, environment preservation, and health quality improvement. Many institutions in Indonesia are focusing in material science development, either involving natural substance or chemically/physically synthesized products. In fact, in Universitas Indonesia, aside from Magister Program of Material Science, Departments of Physics, Chemistry and Biology -which somehow study the development and applications of functional materials- are also available.
However, at the present time, it is rather difficult to find a compatible discussion partners for this issue, not to mention difficulties in developing the research for application purposes. In this case, a medium, which provides proper communication tools amongst the researchers or between the researchers and industrial community, as the end users, is certainly required.
This symposium provides a network for all the functional material researchers to communicate with each other. The establishment of this network will broaden the concept of the subject and is expected to improve the research quality in Indonesia and to increase publication numbers as well as its applications in technology and industry, particularly for alternative energy supply, environment preservation, and health quality improvement.
