In reality, the world has not entirely recovered from COVID-19, and global challenges including threats to global democracy, which have actually decreased over the past 14 years continue to rise. The establishment of COVID-19 has made things worse around the world, particularly in democratic Indonesia, which is crucial to the stability of Asia and the Indo-Pacific. Democracy and development in Indonesia previously faced challenges due to the pandemic. Transmission is prevented by large economic losses, rising unemployment, postponed general elections that cause political instability, and necessary limits on some people's rights. This article compare Indonesia's democracy and development before and after the epidemic in order to determine which period was superior for those two factors. Then determine what issues remain a challenge for Indonesia's democracy and development following the current pandemic. According to this article find that in post-pandemic Indonesia's democracy and development must address a number of issues, including how to address the country's unequal share of the benefits of democratic and economic progress, the need to strengthen democratic institutions that are still flimsy and require further development, and the need to address issues with food resilience and lessen the country's reliance on imported food. The nation can advance toward more democracy by concentrating on equitable growth, bolstering democratic institutions, and addressing issues with food security.
