Health Reproduction Promotion For Minimizing Maternal Mortality Under 19 Years

Abstract


Education about reproductive health is important for pregnan woman and also reproductive woman, including teenagers.  During pregnancy, knowledge about reproductive health is important to safe the mother and the baby. For teenagers, reproductive health is important to prevent them from unwanted pregnancy. Unfortunately, sex education and reproductive health among pregnant women and reproductive age (especially teenagers) is not sufficient. The lack of knowledge about reproductive health would risk woman and couse maternal mortality. Maternal mortality can be reduced by improving teenager’s knowledge about their reproduction health. Therefore, promotion about health reproduction for woman has to be started from early childhood. This study describes the social marketing efforts on sexual education that has been done by the social practitioners in Indonesia for parents and children. Based on the context in Indonesia, bringing sexual education issues have many challenges. Moreover, when parents feel that the issue can not be discussed with children. Through literature review and indepth interview with 165 informants  in two provinces, the study shows that social marketing activity to promote the importance of sex education should be improved especially through increasing life skill of the children. So that unwanted pregnancy that appeared in teenagers or even children can be reduced and likewise the maternal mortality for woman under 19 years.
