Abstract
The digital revolution has brought about significant changes in various aspects of life, including politics and development. The emergence of new technologies and the increasing use of social media have transformed the way people communicate, access information, and participate in political processes. However, these changes have also posed challenges to democracy and development, particularly in Mediterranean countries.
This paper focuses on the challenges faced by Mediterranean countries in navigating a rapidly changing digital world. It examines how digital technologies impact democracy and development, and identifies the unique challenges faced by countries in the region. The paper argues that despite the challenges, Mediterranean countries can serve as a model for others to follow, given their rich history, diverse cultures, and strategic location between Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The paper concludes by emphasizing the need for Mediterranean countries to address the challenges posed by the digital revolution in a proactive and strategic manner. This includes investing in digital infrastructure, promoting digital literacy, and developing policies and regulations that balance the benefits and risks of digital technologies. By doing so, Mediterranean countries can continue to thrive in a digital world while upholding democratic values and achieving sustainable development goals
