Abstract

ABSTRACT
This research focuses on the contestation of hegemony between the European Union (EU) and China which triggers a shifting power of global actors as well as security after the Ukraine conflict. Nevertheless, the EU sees China as "the new emerging power" which has a significant influence on the global political constellation. This study aims to explore the EU's hegemonic contestation with China, as well as to abstract indicators that strengthen China's bargaining position over the EU, thereby strengthening the potential for shifts in global politics and security. This study uses Regional Security Complex Theory (RSCT) by Barry Buzan to analyze the EU's contestation with China. Meanwhile, Joseph Nye's Global Power Shift Theory is utilized to examine shifts in the power of global political and security actors. This study uses qualitative methods supplemented by quantitative data as supporting factors analyzed by researchers. The author hypothesizes that the political and security contestation between the EU and China accelerates the shift in the power of global political and security actors, as well as erodes the hegemony of Western alliance forces in the Asian Region.
