The Strategic and Geopolitics of the West African Response to COVID-19: Lessons and Implications for Future Pandemics

Abstract


The West African countries encountered considerable obstacles due to the impact of the covid-19 pandemic prompting various strategic and geopolitical responses this research paper scrutinizes the measures that the west African nations have taken in response to the pandemic examining lessons learned and implications for future health crises the study relies on a qualitative analysis of data from multiple sources such as official government statements media reports and expert analyses the results show that west African countries have implemented different strategies to address the covid-19 crisis including steps to limit the virus spread ease its effects on healthcare systems and manage its economic and geopolitical impacts, the analysis emphasizes the necessity of coordinated regional action increased investment in public health systems as well as addressing pandemic root causes ultimately this inquiry concludes that although covid-19 highlights significant vulnerabilities within west Africa regions policy responses also present an opportunity to learn from past experiences and prepare for future pandemics.
