Abstract

This article intends to describe the search for funds by groups suspected of being affiliated with terrorist activities. One of its activities is fundraising through fund management facilities. Why has there been a shift in the pattern of fund seekers? How does this group collect funds using fund management tools? From the results of in-depth interviews with the security forces who uncovered this search for humanitarian funds, as well as in-depth interviews with a number of fund seekers, it is known that the charity organization Abdurahman Bin Aufaktif Foundation collected funds during 2012-2017. One of the ways they do this is to distribute funds management tools on the holy days of the Islamic community, including during the month of Ramadan. Furthermore, from the results of the discussion using the framework of thinking about the financing of terrorist network movements, it is understood that terrorist groups are always trying to find ways that they think are difficult for security forces to detect to raise funds for terrorist activities. On that basis, we propose a way to cut the link in the financing of terrorism, namely compiling a profiling of their economic activities that have indications of terrorist activities.

Keywords: fund management facility; sources of terrorism funding; fundraising method; and economic activity profiling.
