Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the potential threat of Video Games to national resilience using qualitative research methods. The study uses literature studies, case studies, and data analysis from the Central Statistics Agency and Indonesian game industry. ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence, is utilized to explore the controversy surrounding Video Games in the context of ideology, politics, economics, socio-culture, defense, and security, considering national resilience. The study findings suggest that Video Games can pose a threat to national resilience due to a significant proportion of Indonesia's productive age population playing Video Games, with an estimated 40% of Indonesians playing them. Although Video Games can have both positive and negative impacts, measures must be implemented to reduce the adverse effects on the younger generation. The government must take strong actions to regulate and monitor Video Game content to ensure that it conforms to national values and does not endanger the younger generation in Indonesia.
