Abstract

The wide spread of the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia has forced the government to reduce the number of fatalities in various ways, one of which is by establishing COVID-19 referral hospitals in all regions. As one of the cities with a high number of virus sufferers, Surakarta City has also designated 15 hospitals in its area as COVID-19 referral hospitals, which are expected to be able to reach and serve areas prone to COVID-19 cases both in the city and in the surrounding areas within a certain distance and time. The purpose of this study is to spatially analyze the reach of the COVID-19 referral hospital to confirmed patients spread across Surakarta City and its surroundings, where the results of this study can be used as a consideration in determining the location of similar facilities in the future. Referral hospital services were analyzed using the service area analysis method by considering the factors of the road network and coverage in Surakarta City. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that some referral hospitals in Surakarta City have a wider reach than other referral hospitals. This is because the referral hospital is located in the city center and on the side of an arterial road, which makes it more accessible.
