The term “Education 4.0” shows how Industrial Revolution 4.0 has influenced the world of education. “Education 4.0” aims to provide education that can open new possibilities between man and technology to meet the needs of Industrial Revolution 4.0.“Education 4.0” emphasizes the importance on using knowledge and skills in order to contribute concretely to the society and economic growth.The basis of “Education 4.0” are that students learn from each other and teachers act as mentors. It is necessary for Japanese language educators to discuss and debate from various viewpoints the repositioning of Japanese Language Education in order to meet the demand of “Education 4.0” and the changing society.

Regarding this issue, Association of Japanese Language Educators in Indonesia (ASPBJI), Japanese Studies Program of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia, and Japan Foundation are hosting International Conference on Japanese Language and Japanese Language Education under the theme of: Thinking about Japanese Language Education in Education 4.0. Educators, experts, and practitioners in Japanese language and Japanese language education are invited to reexamine the repositioning of Japanese language and Japanese language education and their future prospect.
