Overview
This year, the 3rd ICIED is hosted by collaboration of Department of Economics and Demography Institute FEB UI. This conference will highlight Urban Development and Sustainable Growth: Enhancing City Resilience and The Role of Technology for Future Productivity as the main topic. This theme was chosen to encourage sustainable urban development as in 2010, around 49.8% of Indonesian population lives in urban areas and the number is expected to rise more until it reaches 66.6% in 2035 (Indonesian Statistics Bureau, 2010). It might happen due to the massive migration from rural to urban area as well as due to urban area expansion. With these improvements, urban areas can be a major economic support for Indonesia. Thus, appropriate policies are required to anticipate current and future issues in urban area such as economic development, poverty, environment, access to public services, education, health and transportation. This conference is expected to bring together scholars from Indonesia and abroad to discuss and share their knowledge on related topics.
