Abstract
Background. Over the last 5 years, the growth of the internet is very rapidly growing in Indonesia. Based on a survey conducted by Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia (APJII) internet users in 2013 to 2017 is increased. Currently, 54.68% of the total population of Indonesia is 262 million people already using the internet. In terms of access services, chat is often used as the first order with a total usage of 89.35% used by internet users. With this ease, many people use it to help coordinate in a group. This makes it easy for each group member to communicate and share information. Group activities by using internet media can also be called a virtual team. In its development, the virtual team faces a huge challenge in the trust variable. It can be seen how the trust of each team member with the other team members. Trust is very important because trust is a predictor of team effectiveness and organizational success. Many previous studies have examined the relationship between team trust and team effectiveness, but the results vary greatly, there is a negative relationship and there is also a positive relationship. Therefore it can be considered other variables besides team trust that is, knowledge sharing. From some research before, knowledge sharing can be a predictor of team effectiveness. Therefore, researchers are interested to see the relationship between these three variables. So this study wants to test whether there is a significant influence of knowledge sharing on team effectiveness with a virtual team trust as a moderator variable.
Method. Subjects in this study must have criteria that have joined a group member in working on the task of constructing psychology measuring instruments. The sampling technique in this study is to use non-probability sampling with the accidental sampling method. In this study participants consisted of 80 students of the University of Indonesia. To manage the results of the data obtained by the researcher using the model 1 regression and moderation method from Hayes with the SPSS and Process programs.
Results. The results of the influence of knowledge sharing variables on team effectiveness with the team trust virtual variable as the moderator variable can be seen that the coefficient of knowledge sharing b1 = 0.7074 (p <0.05) means that knowledge sharing has a significant influence on team effectiveness. Furthermore, the virtual team trust variable has a coefficient value of b2 = 0.0482 (p> 0.05). This means that the virtual team trust does not have a significant effect on team effectiveness. The interaction between knowledge sharing and virtual team trust has a coefficient of b3 = -0.281 (p <0.05). This means that the interaction of knowledge sharing and virtual team trust has a significant influence on the variety of team effectiveness. This proves that in this model the virtual team trust has a role as a moderator variable, which means that there is a role for the virtual team trust to minimize or increase the influence of knowledge sharing on team effectiveness.
Conclusions. Based on the analysis results can be concluded that the virtual team trust has the role of a moderator variable in the impact of knowledge sharing relationship with to team effectiveness. This means that there is a role for virtual team trusts to minimize or increase the influence of knowledge sharing on team effectiveness.
Added-Values. The results of this study provide more understanding related to the phenomenon of team trust, especially on a virtual team. This research also implies that to increase team effectiveness through knowledge sharing, it is necessary to consider team trust in each group member of the virtual team.
