Author Guidelines

  • The primary responsibility of the author(s) is to provide an extended abstract contains with detail on your participants, method, main results, and value-added of the research to the society
  • The author (s) to present an accurate description of the study and objective discussion of its significance in their extended abstract.
  • The author(s) is obliged to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of the references.
  • Submitted papers must not contain plagiarized material or falsified research data. Plagiarism refers to the use or presentation of the ideas or words of another person from an existing source without appropriate acknowledgement to that source. Any similar misappropriation of intellectual property, which may include data or interpretation, is also considered as plagiarism.
  • To protect the integrity of authorship, only persons who have significantly contributed to the papers and their preparation shall be listed as co-authors. The corresponding authors attest to the fact that they have seen the final version of the papers and have agreed to their submission for publication.
  • It is inappropriate to submit papers with an obvious commercial intent.
  • Author selected for publication in conference proceedings or journals should fulfill the requirements for full paper as directed in this guidelines and template.
  • Authors should reveal to the conference’ scientific committee any potential conflict of interest, e.g., a consulting or financial interest in a company that might be affected by publication of the results contained in a paper. They should ensure that no contractual relations or proprietary considerations exist that would affect the publication of information in a submitted paper.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another conference for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Director).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. All URL addresses in the text (e.g., http://pkp.sfu.ca) are activated and ready to click.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Conference.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed track of the conference, authors' names are removed from submission, with "Author" and year used in the bibliography and footnotes, instead of authors' name, paper title, etc.
  7. If submitting to peer review, all Microsoft Office documents (including Supplementary Files) have been saved by going to File and selecting Save As; clicking Tools (or Options in a Mac); clicking Security; selecting "Remove personal information from file properties on save"; clicking Save.

Authors who submit to this conference agree to the following terms:

a) Authors retain copyright over their work, while allowing the conference to place this unpublished work under a Creative Commons Attribution License, which allows others to freely access, use, and share the work, with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and its initial presentation at this conference.

b) Authors are able to waive the terms of the CC license and enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution and subsequent publication of this work (e.g. publish a revised version in a journal, post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial presentation at this conference.

c) In addition, authors are encouraged to post and share their work online (e.g. in institutional repositories or on their website) at any point before and after the conference.
