ABSTRACT

Background:Nail polish is generally resistant to water because it uses resin as a film-forming layer and requires a suitable solvent to remove the nail polish like acetone. Objective:This study aimed to made peel off nail polish gel with polar solvent for nail polish is more easily removed using water when it is applied on the nail for more practical use. Materials and Methods:This formulation of peel off nail polish using variation of PVA with different concentration used 12%, 15%, and 18% that aims to know the effect of PVA variation in dry time. Results:The results of the evaluation show that the peel off gel formulation can be used as a peel off nail dye preparation and the increased concentration of polyvinyl alcohol used may increase viscosity, speed up the drying time of the peel off nail polish, prolong the resistance to water, and the resulting pH of 5,63-5,84. Conclusion:Based on the result of the research of Formulation 2 with the concentration of polyvinyl alcohol 15% is a formulation of nail polish which resulted in drying time corresponding to the literature that is less than 10 minutes and the viscosity produced accordingly so that when applied to the nail obtained good results.
