The Influence Of Brugmansia Suaveolens Water Extract On The Histophatology Trakea Of The Mice Asthma Model

Introduction: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract that is reversible with the increasing response of the trachea and bronchi from various stimuli. Brugmansia have been used empirically as a bronchodilator for asthma because it contains flavonoids and alkaloids atropine that known affected neural activity as spasmolyticum, antiasthmatic drug, and anticholinergic. Aim: This research was conducted to find out the influence of water extract of Brugmansia’s flowers against epithelial trachea damage cells and the number of inflammatory cells in the tracheal mice. Method: This research were used 24 mice which divided into six groups, each group except control group were induced by the ovalbumin (i.p and inhalation). Negative control (no treatment), positive control (Ovalbumin), group I (extract of Brugmansia’s flowers 17,5mg/KgBW), group II (extract of Brugmansia’s flowers 35mg/KgBW), group III (extracts of Brugmansia’s flowers 70mg/KgBW), and comparison (Salbutamol). Brugmansia’s flowers extract were given by inhalation for 20 minutes in 5 days treatment. Data obtained from the microscopic examination of mice hystophatologic trachea with the scoring method. Data analysis using the Kruskal Wallis followed by Mann Whitney U-Test. Results: Results showed that Brugmansia’s flowers water extract could improve the tracheal histopathology of the mice, lowering the number of PMN cells, and macrophages, significantly at doses of 70mg/KgBW, and there were no significant difference with a salbutamol (p. > 0.05). Conclusion: It can be concluded that the water extract of Brugmansia’s flowers could reduce edema and damage to the epithelium cells wall of the trachea and showed the decrease number of inflammatory cells with optimal doses at 1,4 mg/20gBB.
