Effectiveness of Training, Poster, and Supervision Improving Nurse’s Knowledge and Complience Applying Respiratory Hygiene in Presidential Indonesian Army Central Hospital Gatot Soebroto

Abstract


Nurse’s respiratory hygiene applied as one standard precautions to prevent and control infection that is transmitted through droplet and airborne is not optimal. Research aims to transform and identify the effectiveness of the intervention A (Training, posters, and supervision) and intervention B (Poster) in improving the nurse’s knowledge and complience applying respiratory hygiene in Presidential Indonesian Army Central Hospital Gatot Soebroto. Study design was quasi experimental pre-post test with control group. Samples using consecutive sampling technique with 32 nurses in the intervention group A and 32 nurses in the intervention group B. The results showed a significant increase in the average nurse's knowledge and compliance in applying respiratory hygiene in the intervention group A (p<0.05) and the intervention group B (p<0.05). Intervention training, posters, and supervision is more effective than only posters intervention (p<0.05). The study recommends scheduled infection control training, the use of videos, short films, and reflective supervision model for head nurse as an effort to improve nurse’s knowledge and compliance implementing respiratory hygiene in hospitals.
