Abstract

This paper is a research result on the meaning and behavior of crime in Manado and around, which has been carried out is an ethnographic study of crime that intends to identify and analyze the form and meaning of crime inherent in the religious system, language and social organization of the community. The meaning and behavior of crime is focused on the perpetrators, victims of crime and reactions to the crime itself. Culture of drinking in North Sulawesi (Manado, Minahasa) is often associated with drunken behavior but this culture or habit still exists. It turns out that the culture of drinking is not as expected as long as it is related to certain rituals, one of which is known as Watu Pinawetengan. From the point of view of Cultural Criminology, drinking behavior (alcohol) is socially constructed in the context of community resilience and not just the result of rational choices for lawbreakers.
