Abstract

This study seeks to show why consumption of tuak remains consumed by southeast Acehnese people both in daily practice and traditional activities. Ethnic assimilation, religious diversity and being located far from the center of Islamic Shari’a discourse. Shari'a I see were factors in the tuak phenomenon in Southeast Aceh. Thus, tshe people of southeastern Aceh sees something different regarding the moral order and values that have been applied to the consumption of Tuak. Using the ethnographic method, I want to show that the study of behavior deemed deviant by general values will not show the actual practice of the subject. So, the practice of enforcement that is often carried out by the Wilayatul Hisbah towards those who violate Qanun Jinayah No.12 of 2012 does not solve the real problem.

I conclude that, moral associated with tuak consumption, always been an endless process experiences of negotiation between religion morality, social and cultural values. So the practice of consuming tuak is justified from the socio-cultural context that surrounds the lives of the Southeast part of Aceh.
