Stereotypes are usually indicated by the attribution of peculiarities by ta referentcommunity. Stereotypes are not taken for granted, but are produced, reproduced,constructed and reconstructed and become a system. In other words, stereotypesare reworked into social representations. In the context of women and men,stereotypes are usually associated with the characteristics of non-physical things:for example, women should be soft, while men are stereotyped as gentle and bravein all situations. Paradoxically, it seems that the stereotyping does not apply in thegay community. Its members assume that they have a queer language or lavenderlinguistics; a "language" that is not visible or latent. A homosexual seems have akind of "confidence" that can be associated with "telepathic sixth sense (Reuter,2002). Socially, when individuals perceive others, they will put them in a socialcategory (Macrae & Bodenhausen, 2000). According to Gilbert, Pelham and Krull(1988), the characterization stage is one of the early identification stages in orderto facilitate guessing and stereotyping whether an individual is gay or not. In thisway queer language or lavender linguistic works through "sign language".(Devine 1989). The "cues" on that sense, can be observed as a "language". Aqueer language or lavender linguistic as a "language" is not shared by everyone,since this “language” is usually and normally owned by the gays.this leads to the question, is this perceived as an abuse or violation of Indonesianlanguage? How should we agree on the use of gay language in Indonesia? Thispaper is based on preliminary research which will observed how queer languageor lavender linguistic working within the framework of social sciences and the"language" through the study of literature. I only use the study of literaturebecause the materials of queer language or lavender linguistic are very rare inIndonesia.
