Abstract

Before the dawn of digital age, human express and share the world through the physical artefact. It can be a relief, a tomb, a painting, a music and so on. The artefact conveys the fragments of reality that the creator had intended in it; it can be convey happiness, grief, sorrow, togetherness, etc. At that time, human and its cultural artefact existed in a linear horizon. After the dawn of digital age, human is offered by an alternative way of expressing and sharing the world through non-linear horizon’s artefact; the social media story, had replaced paintings, music, tomb, relief, etc. In other words, human and its social media story existed in different ontology. The conveyance of the reality’s fragments in a cultural artefact is no longer described by brush stratch, fretwork on a wood, colors, etc. Today, it described by filters, typography, photography lightning and video movement effect which manifest the fragment of life-world and represent the tone of world-view. Rafael Capurro remarked this phenomenon as a distinct social evolution of human being. Homo Digitalis, or a Homo Sapiens that inhabit and transform their life-world and world-view into a digital artefact. Through examination between corporeal cultural artefact and digital cultural artefact, this paper argue that the transformation of cultural media reconstructs the cultural artefact and reshape the notion of humanistic value.
