Abstract

Peat fire and smoke has become one of the most serious regional and global environmental issues from Indonesia in the 21st century. Different donors offered support to address the issue to the Indonesian government, and the Indonesian government has implemented the peat restoration policy such as the establishment of the Peat Restoration Agency (BRG). The success of its policy is strongly up to the actual implementation of the policy-related programs at the local level and the extent of the acceptance of local communities to the programs. This paper aims to analyze the local communities’ perceptions and views on the peat fire and smokes and their willingness to follow the peat restoration policy from the tweets by those affected in the Riau province, Indonesia.
