Abstract


Pethok rites present in Sumenep Madura as a tradition to carry out the philosophy of life Buppa'-bhabhu, ghuru-rato. Pethok is one of the rites used to harmonize the three components. The first component, known as buppa-bhabhu, is a very strong reason for the Madurese to carry out the Pethok rites in the tradition of the rokatan pandhaba. The family condition included in the Pandabha category is a family that is recommended to carry out the rites. Pethok's rites in the tradition of rokatan pandhaba is a wayang topeng performance with a pandawa story in Madura puppet art that conveys harmonious values in a family. Research in the Pethok rites uses oral and ethnographic traditions so that the values and functions of Pethok can be revealed.
