The declaration of subak as a world cultural heritage in 2012 by UNESCO has had an impact on changes in the lives of farmers in Bali. Such changes as the emergence of tourism owned by investors from outside, changes in the ecological and cultural landscape, and the ecological failure of subak as a result of tourist behavior. Balinese people assume that the determination of subak by UNESCO is a form of global political interest to dominate local culture. Through the logic of ‘legacy’ and ‘conservation’. This article will discuss the problems caused after the declaration of subak as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO.
