Learning Accompaniment Pattern of Gendang in Gambang Kromong Music using Solfegio Technique for Beginner Learner

This paper is based on the result of the study (Didin and Tarwiyah: 2017) which covers that the Gendang accompaniment patterns on the Betawi’s Gendang has at least four accompaniment patterns. Based on the research experience since 2006 and the results of further research (2018), problems were found in the process of learning. This is because of the limited set of tools. Another obstacle is the problem of mastery time which is quite long if the learning process only uses imitation methods as used by practitioners. Therefore, the researcher uses the solfegio technique in the learning. The method used in researching Gendang learning with the solfegio technique is the Classroom Action Research. In this method all students are introduced about the name of Gendang in a set or required to memorize the name of the punch. Then memorize the basic pattern of Gendang accompaniment with the solfegio technique. The results of the Gendang study with the solfegio technique shows that the learning process of Betawi Music’s cource becomes more active and enjoyable so that students' interest increased and the results are good as well. In addition, it can also contribute to the preservation of Betawi art as part of Indonesia's cultural wealth. Once reaching for the oars, two of the three islands were surpassed.
