CLASSIFICATION OF SKILL ON INFORMATICS OF ARCHITECTS IN VARIOUS PROFESSIONAL JOBS. Case Study in Manado, Indonesia

Abstract


In the era of industrial revolution 4.0 architects are required to master information technology, including mastering various types of software to be used in their professional work. Software development in the field of architecture is not only for building design purposes, but also function of scientific software to guarantee the quality of architectural plan and its construction design. For example, software in the field of acoustic, lighting, and mechanical and electrical of buildings. In addition, architects who work as city planners are also required to master the software for it such as GIS, as well as various scientific software for analysis of regional characteristics.

Through this study, it is grouped informatics capabilities that was conducted on as many as 100 architects (bachelor and master degree) who worked in the city of Manado, Indonesia. The method is the distribution of questionnaires, which contain various questions about the level of mastery of various types of software commonly used in the case of building design and urban planning. In general, it can be concluded that the architects who graduated master degree have mastered more types of software. But knowledge of the software is obtained when taking master's education. Those who master the software in general also get the ease of getting jobs, and higher salary.
