Abstract
Inherent in uncovering new ways of teaching and learning geography requires a careful understanding of existing practices, in the context of the changing needs for the future. While the global pandemic has created opportunities and challenges in the knowledge, skills and attitudinal outcomes of learning geography, the teaching methods employed in many classrooms around the world have not been advanced to keep pace with these new opportunities and challenges. This talk will examine the changing needs of geographical education, the gap in current teaching methods and explore examples of innovative teaching methods that will address these changing needs. Among these methods will also be those that require emerging technologies and those that tap into the potential of big data.
