Abstract
School location planning in a region plays an important role to ensure that educational facilities are accessible to the entire community. The right decision of school location will lead to effective and efficient education services. The research target is to analyze the state primary education (state elementary and junior high school) spatial system in Bandar Lampung City. This study used descriptive qualitative method. There are two stages in this, (1) quantitative analysis of state primary education services based on the government regulations criteria and (2) spatial analysis of state primary education services through school location spatial distribution and service area analysis based on demand area (settlements). The results indicated that the state primary education facilities in Bandar Lampung City do not meet the government standards, both according to SNI and Permendiknas. All sub-districts shortage of schools both for state elementary and junior high schools, classified as under-supply criteria. The state elementary school spatial distribution is scattered fairly based on the settlement. While the state junior high school spatial distribution is scattered unevenly. Service area analysis indicated that elementary school is only able to cover 48% of residential areas, while state junior high school can only cover 17%.
