This research was conducted in Lahat Regency, South Sumatra by using an interpretative paradigm, qualitative research type and ethnographic method used. Data analysis was done through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding, while data analysis was done through persistent observation, triangulation, member check and peer reviewing, and referential adequacy check. Based on the results of the analysis using the social construction theory, Berger and Luckman, social construction is formed through 3 (three) dialectical processes, namely, first externalization is reflected in the existence of the Pantauan Bunting tradition as part of the Besemah Tribe marriage custom which is intended to introduce the bride and groom to relatives and families so that harmonious relationship in the post-marriage period. Second, the objectivation process, through the implementation rules of the Bunting Monitoring, has succeeded in legitimizing the existence of this tradition in society. Third, the internalization process through primary socialization by using traditional institutions to mobilize the community to be aware of their ancestral heritage so that they continue the tradition. The distribution of the Bunting Monitoring Tradition varies in each region caused by geographical and social factors. Even though it has entered a modern era, the existence of the Bunting Monitoring Tradition is still being maintained by the Besemah Tribe community and we can still find it in various areas in Lahat Regency.
