Abstract

Rice is one of the most important agricultural commodities in Indonesia. Urban expansion nowadays resulted in decreasing agricultural land use, especially rice fields. Monitoring of rice yield is required to maintain food security. Remote sensing technology has an advantage to observe rice yields more effective. This study aims to estimate rice yield using Sentinel 2 imagery in Grobogan Regency. Grobogan Regency has the highest rice productivity among the regency in Indonesia. The main planting period occurs in November to March. The main data used in this study is Sentinel-2B images in 2020. Rice yield estimation were calculated using several vegetation indices including NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), SAVI (Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index) and LAI (Leaf Area Index). The results showed that rice yield ranged from 0 – 23.04 tons/hectares. There are several differences in rice productivity value due to the uneven plant’s age.
