Abstract
The coastal area is one area that has a diversity of ecosystems that are interrelated with one another. One of the ecosystems that have the highest productivity is the mangrove ecosystem. Currently, the world's mangrove ecosystems continue to experience various kinds of threats, both threats from humans and natural threats, including the mangrove ecosystem in Langsa City. Currently, the mangrove ecosystem of Langsa City is experiencing several threats to its growth, namely tourism development and development, climate change, regional development, human activities, and sedimentation. These threats are serious considering that the mangrove ecosystem has special requirements to live well. This study examines the threat to the life of the mangrove ecosystem, its relation to the biodiversity of coastal areas, and the local government's mangrove management system. The research method used is field observation and analyzing the findings in the field. The results of this study are the threats to the life of the mangrove ecosystem and its relation to the sustainability of coastal biodiversity, as well as an analysis of the management of mangrove ecosystems by the local government.
