Abstract

Sleep disturbance is a common problem in heart failure patients. This study aimed to identify the effect of the combination of sleep hygiene and Benson relaxation on sleep quality in heart failure patients. The study design used quasi-experiment with pre and post test. The sample selection used a purposive sampling technique and involved 100 respondents with stable heart failure. The research respondents were 50 patients in the intervention group and 50 patients in the control group. The results showed that the combination of sleep hygiene and Benson relaxation had a significant effect on sleep quality. In this study there were significant differences between sleep quality scores after treatment in the intervention group compared to the control group (p = 0,0001, α = 0.05). Sleep hygiene and Benson relaxation are expected to be the standard nursing intervention in stable heart failure patients with sleep disorders.
