Abstract


Abstract. Development of Kota Terpadu Mandiri (KTM) Telang in Banyuasin District which has been running for the last ten years has succeeded in increasing economic growth at the KTM Telang center namely Mulya Sari and its surroundings. The impact of the KTM Telang developmentwas far from expected. The hinterland area is expected to be a support and at the same time affected so that a new regional growth center is formed at the KTM Telang not functioning properly.The objective of the study was to formulate sustainable development strategies for the hinterland KTM Telang. The research was carried out at the KTM Telang which included three sub-districts namely Tanjung Lago District, Muara Telang District, and Sumber Marga Telang District. The study was conducted in Mulya Sari Village as the center of KTM Telang and 6 (six) selected others villageswhich represent hinterland area of KTM Telang. Data collection techniques in this study include structured interviews, indepth interview, observation, and focus group discussion. The analysis wasdone by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The results of the study show that to realize sustainable development of the hinterland area carried out by taking geographical problems and community needs through of coordination bottom up planning so that the planning program is obtained right on target and as needed.The strategy that can be implemented is by carrying out infrastructure development in the form of increasing electricity capacity (1.00), market networkdevelopment (0.59), irrigation network development (0.41). Furthermore, the social aspects are carried out through improving human resource capabilities (0.23), mutual cooperation (0.17), communication improvement (0.15) and institutional and association strengthening (0.07).
