Abstract
Gorontalo province designated as the third conservation province in Indonesia. Continuous exploitation of forest and land resources without applying appropriate conservation rules has resulted in environmental degradation. This study aims to improve land and forest management at the village level through a participatory land-use planning approach. The research was carried out in Moliliulo Village located around the Popayato Paguat Forest Landscape. Current information on land and forest issues, land-use type options and prospective commodities are obtained using participatory rural appraisal (PRA) techniques. This information then integrated with land evaluation based on geographic information system (GIS) to produce appropriate land use and commodity directives. Agroforestry is one of the potential land use directives to be developed. In addition, it is recommended to apply soil conservation on sloping agriculture land.
