Model Predictive Control of Precision Air Conditioning System with Secondary Condenser
Last modified: 2019-10-08
Abstract
Due to high specification of ASHRAE requirements, a data center must have sophisticated cooling system to maintain its envinronment conditions. Its high dimensional coupling system dynamics makes controller design very challenging. A non-linear system model of a precision air conditioning (PAC) system with secondary condenser has been previously developed and then linearized at steady state operating point. Based on the model, a model predictive control(MPC) is designed to deal with coupling state variables(i.e: temperature and relative humidity) and to improve energy efficiency of the PAC system. The performance of the proposed controller is compared to conventional controller and is validated through simulation. The results show the effectiveness of MPC based controller againts its conventional counterpart.
