Abstract


The survival of “Arak” women merchant collided with government in fulfilling subjective welfare and family sustainable development is the main focus of this article. “Arak” is traditional beverage of distilled sugar palm juice. Its productivity is used by women groups as an effort to elevate their welfare, as an aid for children education as well. There are phenomena of success of “Arak” merchant’s children that make it to college. Muna ethnic group believe that education is an effort to family sustainable development and be able to break poverty chain. Children’s success is the social construction of “Arak” women merchant struggle in elevating family dignity as a form of subjective welfare. Nonetheless, “Arak” productivity is against government rule which is regarded as the source of crimes, so that illegal lobbying system is carried out for production survival. Community recognition to children achievement through education is the motivation for “Arak” women merchant survival.
