Abstract

The activities of PETI in Kebunlado Village have caused land damage while most of the people depend on plantation activities. In addition, the use of mercury (Hg) in PETI activity can cause soil and water to be contaminated with Hg so that it can threaten human health. The purpose of this study was to determine the revegetation strategy of oil palm plants on post-PETI land in Kebunlado Village. Sampling using the transect method on PETI affected land. A total of 5 soil samples and 6 water samples were analyzed at the Laboratory of Industrial Research and Standardization in Padang. Complete soil measurements were taken from disturbed soil samples of 7 samples and 6 uninterrupted soil samples which were then analyzed at the UNRI-Pekanbaru soil laboratory. The results of this study indicate that the Hg level in the soil is disturbed 0.99 to 1.18 mg hg / kg while the Hg level in the waters is 0.0093 to 0.21 mg hg / l, this indicates that the Hg level exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. Based on land characteristics after PETI revegetation of oil palm plants is possible by first doing land repairs.
