Abstract


The Warlords ( Tóu Míng Zhuàng) is a film produced in 2007 and directed by Peter Chan. The war-themed drama is based on Chinese history during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). As a male-dominated war drama film, it portrays the position of traditional Chinese women in an interesting way through Liansheng's character ( Lián shēng). This study focuses on the analysis of characterizations and conflicts of Liansheng's character seen from her relationship with male main characters. The author uses qualitative research methods and Minderop's characterization method to analyze the data. This journal aims to explain the role of female supporting figure in this film, who have an important role, especially as a determinant of conflict at the end of the story.
