EVALUATION OF ANTIBIOTICS ADVERSE DRUG REACTION IN “X” HOSPITAL JAKARTA

Abstract


Antibiotic is the most widely used drug in the world, inpatients mostly get antibiotics in their treatment. In Indonesia, there are 70% patients prescribed antibiotic. Besides of its positive impact, the use of antibiotic also has adverse drug reaction potency that could make a negative affect for the patient. The objectives of this research are to evaluate the antibiotics adverse drug reaction and its correlation with inpatients gender, age, and type of antibiotics usage. The research was conducted by using prospective approach with purposive sampling method from "X" hospital ward inpatients data during January-March 2016, then analized the correlation using spearman test. The results shows there were 34 inpatients that has adverse drug reaction, consist of 14 men (41.18%) and 20 women (58.82%). Inpatients with adverse drug reaction are mainly in the age range 21-40 years old (35.29%). The antibiotics with the most likely cause adverse drug reactions is Levofloxacin (26.47%) and Ciprofloxacin (23.53%). Manifestation of adverse drug reactions most commonly found as skin rash/ itching/ swelling (70.59%). Consummation of adverse drug reactions heal (88.24%). based on spearman test, there is no significant correlation between adverse drug reactions and inpatient gender (sig. 0.848), age (sig. 0.614), and type of antibiotics (sig. 0.054). The conclusion of this research is the use of antibiotics could affect adverse drug reactions, it is not depand on inpatient gender, age, and type of antibiotics usage, then the pharmacist have to be aware with the usage of Quinolon antibiotic class.
