Abstract
ABSTRACT
Hair colouring is a cosmetic which is used in hair styling to colour the hair. Most of the hair colouring in market is made from synthethic ingredients. One of the natural ingredients that has a potential to color hair is papaya seed which contains coloring agent such as glucoside cacirin and alkaloid carpaine. The aim of this research was to gain the extract concentration of papaya seed (Carica papaya) which can be formulated in gel hair coloring. Piragolol, as the induction of coloring agent was also added. The aim of this research was also to gain formulation to get the best hair colouring.
This research showed that color of hair colouring is influenced by the extract of papaya seed and time of soaking, The higher concentration of extract and the longer of soaking time, it will induce dark colour (from blond to chocolate brown). Conclusion of this research is that papaya seed extract has a potential to be an ingredients for hair coloring. Papaya seed extract 8%, HPMC 2,5%, gliserin 6,25%, propilenglikol 15%, dmdm hidantoin 0,6% and piragolol 1% gives the best colour chocolate brown. Acidic level still fullfil the standard level for skin, which is 5,0-10,0. Viscosity is not stable, this change may caused by several factors in storage. Stability in washing, direct sunlight, spreading and do not irritate skin.
