Abstract
Background:Drug addiction is a condition which characterized by drug craving, a compulsive pattern and unable to manage drug usage, thus induce harmful consequences. Methamphetamine (MA) addiction is the highest incidence of drug abuse in Indonesia. However, there is no demographic study of MA users among Indonesian population. Objective:To define demographic profiles of MA users among Indonesian population. Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted among MA users at National Narcotic Rehabilitation Centre Lido, National Narcotics Control Board of Indonesia from January until December 2018. Medical records from the patient were analyzed to assess demographic profile and history of drugs abuse in MA users. Results:From 588 MA users, about 35.9% participants consume MA more than five years. Therefore, among the administrationroutesof the MA consumption in Indonesian drug user (oral, nasal, and smoking routes), smoking is the most frequently administration route among them. And interestingly we found that married MA users is likely to be have lesser duration of MA consumption (OR 0.56; 95%CI: 0.39 to 0.78).Conclusion:These study shows that male, senior high school background, and single status are more frequently of using MA in Indonesia. Interestingly, Marrital status is likely to become protective factor forMA consumption. Lastly, Smoking administration is themost prominent route of MA consumption.
