Abstract

Background: Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle is one of the source of essential oil in Indonesia that had many beneficial in flavour, fragrance, pharmacology activity, etc. Purpose of study: This study aimed to take the active ingredient from the essential oil of Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle. Methods: Essential oil of Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle was fraction by vacuum distillation fractionation tool in 0 mBar pressure and the variation of reflux ratio 10:5 and 5:10. The collecting of fraction according to the rate time and area of each component of Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle. Results: According to the result of identification each fraction of Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle by GC-MS are F1 (Citronella : 44.77%), F2 (Citronellol : 58.22%), F3 (Geraniol : 44.72%), F4 (dl-Limonene (55.90%).  Conclusion: Base on these results, several active components of Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle can obtain by the vacuum of distillation fractionation.
